Sauerbeck Not Too Smart

Early this morning Cleveland Indians pitcher, Scott Sauerbeck, proved he was not the smartest card in the deck when he was arrested. Sauerbeck tried avoiding capture by hiding behind a bush. He and a woman fled his vehicle after an officer had spotted it weaving in the road. The bush proved not to be the best hiding spot Sauerbeck hoped it would be.

Sauerbeck was charged with obstructing official business and permitting someone intoxicated to drive his vehicle. If there was a law for stupidity, he could have been charged with that too—open and shut case. According to Police Chief Michael Gurich, the two darted between houses and behind a bush, because “they were frightened because they had been drinking.”

The woman was identified as Lily Miller. She will most likely be charged with obstructing official police business and DUI. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.253, which is over three times the legal limit in Ohio. Both were released on the whopping bond of $120. Both face possible jail time, but it’s likely that Sauerbeck gets off with some community service. This season the relief pitcher has a 4.22 ERA for the Indians. His last outing was last night. He pitched one inning, gave up two hits, one run and struck out two.
