The Minnesota Twins surprised many this season with their late run to the MLB playoffs. Many had written them off, but here we are in September and here they are. Santana took the mound for the Twins yesterday and he opened as a $4 favorite in Vegas. That’s unheard of. The Twins had a tough time with the Royals and needed a late inning run to seal the deal.
Going into the 8th inning, the Tigers had the lead 3-2. However, the Minnesota Twins managed to push two runs across the plate and take a 4-3 lead, which was the final. The game had more implications for the Twins than the Tigers. The Tigers have a commanding lead in the AL Central and are 76-38 on the season. The Twins are fighting for the wildcard.
The Detroit Tigers show absolutely no signs of letting up any time soon. Today’s victim was the Minnesota Twins. Once again, Francisco Liriano was unable to do anything about it. He had an early shower. The game was not that bad until the 7th. That’s when Detroit turned it on and ended the game. The Tigers scored 4 runs in the bottom of 7th and then followed it up with another run in the bottom of the 8th for good measure. The Tigers beat the Twins 9-3.
It was a Texas sized massacre in today’s game between the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins. For Texas, it was a good day to take off and see the sights in Minnesota. This game really never got started for Texas. The Twins scored 5 runs in the first inning and never let up. They added 3 in the second, 3 in the fourth, 3 in the fifth, and 1 in the sixth. The Rangers avoided the shutout by adding a run in the seventh and one in the ninth. The Twins won 15-2.
The Chicago White Sox made a late push in today’s game with the Minnesota Twins, but it was too little too late. After five innings of play the White Sox had the lead, 2-0, but it all went downhill after that. In the sixth inning, the Twins came alive and scored 3 runs to take a 3-2 lead. In the seventh inning, they built on that lead by scoring 3 more. They now led 6-2. They went up 7-2 in the ninth. The White Sox scored 2 in the bottom of the ninth, but it didn’t matter. The Twins won 7-4.
The Oakland A’s are coming off of a horrific series where they dropped two of three games at home to the worst teams in the majors—Kansas City. In fact, the Royals are so bad that some sports books are now taking wagers on them ending up as the worst team of all time. Oakland bettors were murdered in that series as the A’s were over $2.00 favorites for each game. In game three, the A’s avoided the sweep by winning 7-0.
