The Minnesota Twins surprised many this season with their late run to the MLB playoffs. Many had written them off, but here we are in September and here they are. Santana took the mound for the Twins yesterday and he opened as a $4 favorite in Vegas. That’s unheard of. The Twins had a tough time with the Royals and needed a late inning run to seal the deal.

The White Sox are in a fierce battle with the Minnesota Twins for the AL Wild Card. There’s also Boston, LA Angels and Toronto, but they are further down and time is running out. Today, the White Sox seemingly get a break as they face the worst team in the league—Kansas City. They Royals are a paltry 49-86. However, they have managed to upset some teams—like Boston and Oakland—along the way. It’s almost win or go home time.

The Boston Red Sox have found a way, yet again, to lose to the 40-73 Kansas City Royals. This time it was a blown save. The Red Sox were up 4-3 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. In the bottom of the 9th, German came in to pinch-hit for Berroa. He tripled to center field. DeJesus came in and sacrificed in the tying run. Next up was Grudzielanek who doubled to left field. The icing on the cake came next when Sweeney slapped a single to left field that scored Grudzielanek and ended the game.

The Kansas City Royals gave the Chicago White Sox all they could handle today. At the end of 9 innings of play, the score was tied 4-4. The White Sox could not afford to lose this game and fall yet another game behind Detroit. In the top of the 10th inning, the White Sox scored 3 runs to seal the deal. The Royals made it interesting by scoring one in the bottom of the 10th and threatening. The final was 7-5.

The slumping Chicago White Sox mustered a win today—albeit against the horrible Kansas City Royals. All the damage, and scoring, was done in the first three innings. The White Sox scored 3 in the first, 2 in the second and 3 in the third. The Royals just didn’t have enough offensive power to hang around. The final score was 8-4 White Sox.

Well, last night I was correct on the Royals. They were a tasty +230 against a slightly better team with both pitchers being close to equal, so I bet em. Tonight, game three of the series goes off and the Angels are a huge favorite again. The Angels are currently -280 and the Royals are +230. The under/over is 9. The over is +105 and the under is -125. I am learning towards the over here and perhaps you will see why in a moment.

Tonight the Royals and Angels kick off a series in Anaheim. The Angels are a heavy favorite tonight at -219, while the Royals a +189 as the underdog. The over/under line is currently set at 9 with the under being -120 and the over being even. Bobby Keppel is pitching for the Royals and Ervin Santana will go for the Angels.

In today’s draft, the Kansas City Royals have taken Luck Hochevar as the number one selection. This is the second time he has been drafted. Last year, he was taken as the 40th pick over all, but the Dodgers failed to sign him—thanks to evil agent Scott Boras. Hockevar is hard-throwing right-handed pitcher. However, if the Dodgers failed to sign him, it’s hard to see the Royals doing so.

Tonight the Royals are at the Mariners for game 2 of the series. Last night Jaime Moyer absolutely owned the Royals and the Mariners won 4-0. The Royals are just what the doctor ordered for the struggling Mariners. While the Royals are pretty much gone this season, the Mariners play in the ugly American League West. They still have a shot at getting to the playoffs—if they can get their act together.

Say it isn’t so. The Oakland A’s are in jeopardy of being swept, at home, by the worst team in baseball—Kansas City Royals. The Royals are playing just .260 ball, but you would think they are the New York Yankees if you have watched them over the past two games in Oakland. The Royals have managed to beat the A’s 6-4 and 8-7. Last night the Royals scored one run in the ninth to tie the game at 7-7 and one in the tenth to win it. Their effort was helped by a four run first inning.
