This year’s World Series is set up to be one of the lower watched in recent history. First, we have a team in the Detroit Tigers that will fail to get national attention. Yes, it’s a great story, but not great enough to hold a national audience. Let’s face it; the national audience would rather see the Yankees or Red Sox.

Last night the Cardinals beat a Mets team that just couldn’t take advantage of situations. The game itself was pretty exciting. The Mets blew a shot in the 6th with bases juiced. The Cardinals finally broke a 1-1 tie to go up 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 9th. The Mets got the first two runners on in the 9th. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the Mets didn’t sacrifice to get the runners to 2nd and 3rd with 1 out.

The Detroit Tigers didn’t suffer an emotional letdown when they played the Oakland A’s in game one of the ALCS yesterday. The Tigers came into town steaming and ready to go to the World Series.

Many had written off the AL playoffs to the New York Yankees. They are just too complete when compared to the other teams. Game one of their series against the Detroit Tigers went pretty much as expected—Yankees won easily. It looked to be going that way again today in game 2. However, the Tigers kept hacking away and runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings helped give them a 4-3 victory over the Yankees.

The Detroit Tigers keep their one game lead in the AL Central over the Minnesota Twins by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 on Tuesday. They game up a couple late inning runs, but managed to hold off the Blue Jays rally. There are just 5 games left for the Tigers. While they are already guaranteed at least the Wild Card, they really want the division title. If they don’t get it, they will have suffered a collapse of sorts.

Going into the 8th inning, the Tigers had the lead 3-2. However, the Minnesota Twins managed to push two runs across the plate and take a 4-3 lead, which was the final. The game had more implications for the Twins than the Tigers. The Tigers have a commanding lead in the AL Central and are 76-38 on the season. The Twins are fighting for the wildcard.

The Detroit Tigers show absolutely no signs of letting up any time soon. Today’s victim was the Minnesota Twins. Once again, Francisco Liriano was unable to do anything about it. He had an early shower. The game was not that bad until the 7th. That’s when Detroit turned it on and ended the game. The Tigers scored 4 runs in the bottom of 7th and then followed it up with another run in the bottom of the 8th for good measure. The Tigers beat the Twins 9-3.

You can’t keep a good team down. Today, the Detroit Tigers put it on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The Devil Rays jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st, but the Tigers quickly set the pace by scoring 5 runs in the top of the second. They added another in the 3rd, to take a 6-3 lead. The tigers added 2 in the 5tgh, 1 in the 6th and 1 in the 9th. They won 10-4.

The Tigers simply ran out of gas today. Despite having an early 1-0 lead, they were unable to get anything going against the Devil Rays in Tampa. The Devil Rays took a 2-1 lead in the 4th and never looked back. In the 6th, they put the game out of reach by scoring 4 runs and taking a 7-1 lead. The Tigers scored 2 meaningless runs in the 9th. The final was 7-3.

The Tigers set the tone early in this game by scoring 5 runs in the first inning. Cliff Lee, of Cleveland, just didn’t have any luck running tonight. Despite the hot start, Cleveland made a game of it. They scored in the 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th innings. However, the Indians got the short end of the stick. They lost today’s battle 9-7. The Indians are really playing out the season and waiting for next year. They are hoping to spoil someone’s chances at a playoff birth.
