There’s no cause for alarm. Barry Zito’s ERA is being to plummet to expected levels. After his April 8th game against the LA Dodgers, who are in first place, many started to wonder if he was worth all the money.
In that contest, Zito gave up 8 runs and 9 hits over 6 innings. However, this proved to be a fluke as he proceeded to dominate his next two outings.
His last outing was against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday. He pitched very well—allowing just 4 hits with no runs over 7.1 innings.
His ERA is now down to 3.70 and he’s 2-2. Zito would be 3-1 if the Giants had a decent offense. He lost his first game—to the Padres—despite only allowing two runs.
Zito’s next start will be at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks on April 27th. He’ll be facing Davis for Arizona who pitched decently in his last outing against the Giants.
