Yankees Fly Past Blue Jays

The New York Yankees beat the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 today and gained a critical game on the Boston Red Sox. The critical inning of the game was the 4th. In that inning, the Yankees, then training 1-0, put up 4 runs and sealed the victory. It was smooth sailing for Yankees pitchers.

Jaret Wright, 7-6, picked up win number 7 on the season with tonight’s performance. He went 5 innings and just about shut down the Blue Jays. He allowed 1 run over 5 hits and 1 walk. He struck out 5 hitters.

A.J. Burnett continues to have issues. He lasted just 4 innings today and gave up 4 of the 5 Yankee runs over 4 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 3. He’s 2-5 now.

Bobby Abreu made his Yankees debut tonight. While his stats were terrible—0 for 3 with 1 walk—his walk was critical in the game.
