It was a Texas sized massacre in today’s game between the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins. For Texas, it was a good day to take off and see the sights in Minnesota. This game really never got started for Texas. The Twins scored 5 runs in the first inning and never let up. They added 3 in the second, 3 in the fourth, 3 in the fifth, and 1 in the sixth. The Rangers avoided the shutout by adding a run in the seventh and one in the ninth. The Twins won 15-2.
John Rheinecker pitched for the Rangers tonight—if you want to call it pitching. He lasted just 1.2 innings. Before fans had parked their cards, the Twins put up 8 runs over 9 hits. He gives a new meaning to the phrase “early shower.†He’s 4-5 on the season now.
Carlos Silva, 7-9, had a very impressive outing. It may be partly to the fact that the Rangers got crushed early. Nonetheless, he allowed one lone run over six hits in his 7 innings of work. He also struck out 4 batters.
The Rangers drop a crucial game. With Oakland winning, they move one more game back. The Twins got the much-needed victory. With Detroit and Chicago winning, they keep pace.
