Tigers Keep One Game Lead

The Detroit Tigers keep their one game lead in the AL Central over the Minnesota Twins by defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 4-3 on Tuesday. They game up a couple late inning runs, but managed to hold off the Blue Jays rally. There are just 5 games left for the Tigers. While they are already guaranteed at least the Wild Card, they really want the division title. If they don’t get it, they will have suffered a collapse of sorts.

Bonderman took the mound for the Tigers on Tuesday. He went 6 innings and allowed just one run over 3 hits and 3 walks. Bonderman picked up his 14th win on the season. He’s now 14-8. The Detroit hitters squeaked out 4 runs over 8 hits to get the win. The big game for the Tigers came from Polanco. He had one hit, but 3 RBIs.

The Blue Jays season is over, but they will finish above .500 this year. They are 83-74. They marched out 5 pitchers against the Tigers on Tuesday and they almost got the job done. The Tigers will go back at it today. They need the Twins to lose, so they can claim the AL Central as their own.

The Tigers have had a 19-year absence from the MLB playoffs. This will be a very special season for the organization and fans regardless of how they end up getting into the playoffs and how they perform once there.
