Today’s game between these two was close until the latter part of the game. Actually, the Orioles were up 3-0 going into the top of the 6th inning. The Mariners managed to score 3 runs and tie it. In the top of the 7th, the Mariners scored two more. The Orioles got one back, so it was 5-4. The key inning proved to be the 8th. The Mariners scored 4 runs in the top of the 8th and put this game out of reach. Adding insurance in the 9th, gave the Mariners a 10-5 win.
Despite a decent outing, Gil Meche has nothing to show for it. He went 5 innings and gave up 3 runs, but left with a deficit. Julio Mateo got the win. He didn’t pitch well, but was in the right spot and the right time. He’s 6-4 now. Adam Loewen got the loss for Baltimore. He’s 1-3 now. He’s come a long way fast, but he’s not getting it done yet.
The Mariners keep pace with division leading Oakland. They are a few games back of Oakland still. The season has been over for the Orioles. They are trying to be a spoiler at this point.
