Despite scoring a run in the 9th inning, the Phillies fell short and lost to the Nationals 4-3.

Despite getting 13 hits, the Phillies just couldn’t push runs past the plate. They left 10 men on base. Myers takes the loss for the Phillies. He’s 12-7 on the season. Myers allowed 3 runs over 6 hits and 2 walks. He struck out 5. The fatal blow came when Geary was on the mound. The Rockies only had 3 runs, but scored their 4th on an error. That unearned run cost the Phillies the game.

For the Nationals, Ortiz picks up his 11th win on the season. He was a hit machine though. He allowed 10 hits over 6 innings of work. However, the Phillies only scored 2 runs. The other Phillies run was scored when Cordero was on the mound. Despite giving up that run, Cordero still picked up his 29th save on the season.

The Phillies are now 1 game back in the NL Wild Card race. They are 82-75 and have 5 games left to play.
