The Oakland A’s got back to business today by beating the LA Angels 3-2. After 5 innings of the play, the game was tied 2-2. In the top of the 8th inning, the A’s managed to push a run across the plate and took a 3-2 lead. Any thoughts of a comeback were dashed when Street came into the game and mowed down the Angels for two straight innings.
Escobar gave it a good go for the Angels. He pitched 7 innings and gave up 2 runs over 3 hits and a walk. Shields came in for relief and gave up the critical run. He allowed 2 hits and 1 walk in that inning. Ironically, he struck out three.
While Loaiza didn’t get the win, he kept the Angels at bay for 5.1 innings. He allowed 8 hits and 2 runs. The A’s used 4 pitchers in total and they all held down the Angels. The win went to Calero, who’s 3-1 now. He allowed a lone hit in his 1.1 innings of work.
The Oakland A’s add a little distance between then and the Angels today. The other two teams in the AL West, Texas and Seattle, won today also.
