The Seattle Mariners, who are red hot right now, have made a move to help their DH position. In a deal hot off the presses, the Mariners have acquired Eduardo Perez from the Indians. It’s not known what the Mariners gave up for Perez, but it was most likely something very minor.

Eduardo Perez is in his mid-30’s, so there is no real upside here. He’s currently hitting .303 with 8 home runs in 99 at-bats. He will most likely platoon with Carl Everett. Everett is doing a good job in pinch situations, but he is vulnerable from the right side. With the addition of Perez, the Mariners can put Everett in only when he will be hitting from the much better left side.

This is a good move for the Mariners, providing they did not give up much of anything. They now have a pretty good DH or pinch-hit situation. Both Everett and Perez are guys that can come in off the bench and provide the team with a critical hit and possible a home run. The resurgence of the Mariners and their new position in the West has sparked an interest in making moves. It looks like the Mariners front office believes that they have a real shot at taking down the West.
