The Seattle Mariners, behind pitching sensation Felix “King†Hernandez beat the Boston Red Sox today with some late game scoring. The game was all tied after three innings of play and stayed that way until the seventh when the Mariners scored a run to go up 3-2. They added two insurance runs in the eight.
Felix Hernandez got the win for the Mariners. He is now 9-8 on the season. He went seven innings and allowed two runs over four hits and two walks. It was a really great outing for him. It may be too late. With their recent slump, the Mariners are becoming sellers in the upcoming trade bonanza.
Kason Gabbard lost his Major League debut. He went 5.1 innings and allowed two runs over eight hits and two walks. He did strike out three. With the Yankees nipping at their heels, the Red Sox dropped a crucial game. The bottom third of their lineup (Pena, Mirabelli and Gonzalez) forgot to show up. They went a combined 0-9.
