Johnson Blows No Hitter

It was going well until the 6th inning. Randy Johnson was blowing away the White Sox hitters one after another. However, they woke up in the 6th and started catching up to Johnson’s pitches. Soon after giving up a couple of runs, Johnson was pulled. Ron Villone game into the game and got the Yankees to the 7th. Farnsworth came in and the wheels started to come apart.

Despite scoring 6 runs between the 7th and 8th innings, the White Sox fell short. Mariano Rivera came on in the 9th inning and closed the door. The Yankees pulled out the crucial game 7-6. Garland started for the White Sox and had a forgettable outing. He allowed 6 runs over 10 hits and 1 walk through 6 innings.

The Yankees pick up a game on Boston who lost to Kansas City. The White Sox keep pace in the AL Central since Detroit lost, but they are now even with the Twins, who won, for the wildcard.
