Florida Bombs Philadelphia

The Florida Marlins absolutely crushed the Philadelphia Phillies today. There were only three innings were the Marlins failed to score. The Marlins scored 2 in the first, 2 in the second, 1 in the fourth, 4 in the fifth, 3 in the eighth and 3 in the ninth. The final score was 15-2.

Josh Johnson picked up his 9th win of the season. He’s 9-5 now. He went 7 solid innings. The Phillies only scored 1 run on him. He struck out 8 and allowed just 5 hits. The loss went to Jon Lieber. He’s 4-8 now and going downhill. The Marlins tagged him for 9 runs over 13 hits and 1 walk over 4.2 innings of work.

The Marlins, who started the season out as one of the worst teams in baseball, find themselves just 6 games out of the wildcard. This team continues to surprise. Both teams are out of it in their division, which is led by the runaway New York Mets.
