It had to happen sooner or later. The 11 game winning streak of the Los Angeles Dodgers came to an end tonight. The way it ended probably left a bitter taste in the mouth of fans and players. The Colorado Rockies were doing absolutely nothing all night long—until the 9th inning. The game was tied going into the 9th. The Rockies put together some baserunners and scored two runs to win the game 3-1.
Derek Lowe had a great outing for the Dodgers—except for the 9th. Perhaps he was left in too long. He gave up all 3 Colorado runs over 6 hits. He should have been pulled at the end of the 8th. However, he was left in and gave up the game-winning run.
Jeff Francis allowed 1 run in 7.1 innings. He gave up 4 walk and 6 hits. The win went to Jeremy Affeldt. He got one out and the win—his second on the season.
The Dodgers lose a heartbreaker, but they are still moving forward. The 11 game winning streak has put them right back in the thick of things. They are a ½ game out of the NL West race and 1 game out of the Wild Card. The Rockies are 3 games out in the NL West and 3.5 games out in the Wild Card.
