The Boston Red Sox continued their question for another World Series by dispatching with the Texas Rangers today. The Red Sox were pretty much in control the whole game. After the 3rd, they had a 4-3 lead and they never gave it up. The Rangers managed to tie the game in the top of the 6th, but the Red Sox went back up 5-4 in the bottom of the inning. After scoring an insurance run in the 7th, the Red Sox put away the Rangers 6-4.
Curt Schilling got his 12th win of the season. He is now 12-3 overall. Schilling pitched 7 strong innings. He allowed all 4 Texas runs over 11 baserunners. It was not a super dominate performance we are used to seeing, but he got the job done. Mike Timlin came in for the 9th and picked up his second save of the season. Bryan Corey pitched 1.1 innings in the Texas loss. The real culprit was Rheinecker. He only pitched 3.2 innings for the Rangers and forced them to use 4 other pitchers.
Thanks to a Yankees loss, the Red Sox are now 2.5 games up. They are also 5.5 games up on the Blue Jays.
