Baltimore Rolls Over New York Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles scored multiple runs in the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings. The Yankees were unable to respond. After the 2nd inning—they Yankees scored 2 runs by this point—the Yankees bats fell silent. They scored just 2 runs over 7 hits. The Orioles put 12 runs across the plate on 9 hits. They beat the Yankees 12-2.

Jaret Wright started for the Yankees. He lasted just 3 short innings. The Orioles tagged him for 5 runs over 4 walks and 2 hits. Wright is 9-7 on the season now. Villone came in to relive him and didn’t fair much better. Villone gave up 2 runs over 3 hits and a walk. Dotel followed and he allowed 3 runs (1 unearned) over 3 hits. It just wasn’t the Yankees night.

For the Orioles, Rodrigo Lopez pitched 7 solid innings. He struck out 8 Yankee batters. He allowed 2 runs over 6 hits and a walk. The Orioles bullpen picked up the last two innings in a game that was long gone by then.
