If you remember, I told you back on the 8th that the Brewers weren’t as good as their record (Milwaukee Brewers—Best Record, Not Best Team) and I showed you why. I also mentioned that I expected them to slide—and they did.
Keen baseball bettors have been able to main some nice coin on betting against the Brewers of late. The Brewers lost their three-game series against the Mets. They lost their four-game series against the Phillies. They lost their three-game series against the Twins. And they’ve split their three-game series against the Dodgers so far and they get to face Brad Penny tonight.
The media has been all over Jason Giambi today. Once again he’s front and center in a steroids fiasco. The Daily News reported that Giambi failed his amphetamines test, which was given at some point over the past year.
The news is muddy at best. Perhaps the biggest indicator was that Giambi met lawyers today. Last Friday Giambi was quoted as saying:
“I was wrong for doing that stuff. We made a mistake,” Giambi said.
Our latest MLB Error Report is complete and the Texas Rangers are the sloppiest team in MLB baseball. They have committed 37 errors in 39 games, which is almost one per game.
The Colorado Rockies are the best team in this category. Over 39 games, the Rockies have only committed 15 errors, which is about 1 in every 2.6 games.
The New York Mets are second best (17 errors over 38 games).
Here’s your full MLB Error Report for May 16.
Here’s the latest installment of our MLB Money Rankings series.
The Boston Red Sox lead the pack and they appear to be running away in the American League. Is this their year to win it all?
The Red Sox are +1244 in the latest MLB Money Rankings. Coming up right behind them in second place are the Milwaukee Brewers who are at +1179.
The Yankees are back in the top spot as the worst team in the MLB to wager on. The ran into the Seattle Mariners recently and they stumbled. The Yankees are at -1394 for this report. Right behind them are the Kansas City Royals at -1027.
April 2007 was a magical month for A-Rod. He was a media darling. However, he started to fade late in the month and so far in May 2007 Alex Rodriguez has been off the radar. How bad is it? It’s not good.
In fact, it’s really bad when you consider that the Yankees have been playing a soft schedule of late. Their last 13 games have been against the Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers—two clubs not going anywhere.
The Mariners have a team ERA of 4.91 and the Rangers have a team ERA of 5. One would suspect that A-Rod launched some shots out of the yard over the past two weeks. Ah, but you’d be mistaken.
The Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in all of MLB baseball. Are they the best team in the NL or the MLB? Hardly.
The 2007 Brewers are, so far, proving that records are misleading. They are 24-10, which is a .706 win percent. They’ve won 6 in a row and 9 of their last 10.
If I told you that their last three games were against the Washington Nationals (9-25) and their four before that were against the Pittsburgh Pirates (14-18), would you still be impressed?
Unless you have the brain the size of a pea or are racially biased, it’s fairly obvious that Barry Bonds has taken some sort of enhancement.
That’s really not the issue in my opinion. The question is: do you care?
In recent days, Curt Schilling (Boston Red Sox pitcher) has basically said that Bonds took steroids and that he (Bonds) doesn’t deserve a break. Today, Schilling apologized on his blog about those statements.
Let me say that I don’t care. And here’s why.
The MLB is averaging 9 runs per game. If you’re an over bettor, this new MLB Totals Report shows that you need to be cautious. Betting every game over the total this season would have resulted in a 33 unit loss so far. Betting under the total is at a 10 unit loss, which is about 66% less.
The Oakland A’s continue to be a team that’s in a lot of games under the total. In 27 games so far, they’ve had 20 go under the total.
There are two teams that have been in over games 60% of the time. Those teams are the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and the Cleveland Indians.
Here’s the new MLB Money Rankings report from Sports Betting Baseball. We have a new best team to bet on now. The Cleveland Indians finally lost their top spot. They fell to second best to bet on.
The New York Yankees continue to be the worst team to bet on in baseball. They almost made it out of that dubious honor, but a blown call on a 2nd base steal by Willie Bloomquist of the Seattle Mariners eventually led to a tie game. Adrian Beltre of the Mariners belted a 9th inning game-winning home run.
Speaking of the Mariners, they are on the profit side as of this report (+220).
Roger Clemens agreed to a deal with the New York Yankees today. The deal is worth $28 million for one-year—yes, $28 million.
While he could earn less—depending on playing time and performance—it will still cost the Yankees $25-$30 million after that nice luxury tax hits.
Is Roger Clemens worth $28 million? How about $20 million? Many get on A-Rod for his contract, but how does it look now? A-Rod makes $25 million—close to Clemens cash—and he plays every day. Clemens pitches every 5th day—if he feels like it.
In today’s MLB Error Report, we see that the worst team in the MLB, the Washington Nationals, leads all teams. They are committing almost one error per game (.93 avg). Over 28 games, they’ve committed 26 errors. The Texas Rangers are running a close 2nd.
The three best MLB teams, which are all under the .50 ratio mark, are: Pittsburgh Pirates, Colorado Rockies and the New York Mets.
Perhaps most surprising is that the Boston Red Sox are 4th in the MLB for committing errors.
The new Sports Betting Baseball MLB Money Rankings report is hot off the press and the New York Yankees continue to be the worst team in baseball to bet on, but they are getting better. We suspect that they’ll relinquish their dubious #1 spot in our next report.
The Cleveland Indians remain the best team in the MLB to bet on and they’ve increased by around 25.5% since our last MLB Money Rankings report. The Pittsburgh Pirates have dropped out of the top 5 and the LA Dodgers have taken taken their place.
