Say it isn’t so. The Oakland A’s are in jeopardy of being swept, at home, by the worst team in baseball—Kansas City Royals. The Royals are playing just .260 ball, but you would think they are the New York Yankees if you have watched them over the past two games in Oakland. The Royals have managed to beat the A’s 6-4 and 8-7. Last night the Royals scored one run in the ninth to tie the game at 7-7 and one in the tenth to win it. Their effort was helped by a four run first inning.

Finally the wait is over. Roger Clemens has officially announced his return to baseball. He’s coming back to Houston—as expected by many insiders. A few days ago Houston denounced a rumor that he was coming back—we can see that was a fib. The Astros are still in the hunt for the playoffs and the contract they gave Roger Clemens shows just how desperate they are for pitching.

Early this morning Cleveland Indians pitcher, Scott Sauerbeck, proved he was not the smartest card in the deck when he was arrested. Sauerbeck tried avoiding capture by hiding behind a bush. He and a woman fled his vehicle after an officer had spotted it weaving in the road. The bush proved not to be the best hiding spot Sauerbeck hoped it would be.

These two Central division foes go at it again today. It’s a match up of lefties as Mark Buehrle takes the mound for the White Sox and C.C. Sabathia takes the hill for the Indians. Surprisingly, the Indians are a -128 favorite this on and the under/over is 8.5. The difference between these two clubs is almost night and day. The White Sox have been winning at a .660 clip, including 7 of their last 10 and two in a row. Meanwhile, the Indians are a sub .500 ball club and simply treading water. The Indians are 5-5 over their last 10.

It had to happen sooner or later. Barry bonds finally hit home run 715 of his career at San Francisco. It was a nice treat for the home fans as the Giants were playing their last game of the home stand. Barry Bonds now sits all alone in second place for career homeruns. After the game, Bonds and fellow players toasted with champagne. Now that this personal milestone was reached, the only other question that remains is whether or not Barry Bonds will keep playing to break the record.
